Zero tolerance

Ragging is prohibited, and it is punishable

This college enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy on ragging, in compliance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, and the directions of the Supreme Court of India.

Ragging in any form — inside or outside the campus, in hostels, in transport, or online — is a punishable offence. Proven cases attract penalties up to and including suspension, expulsion, debarment from examinations, and referral to the police.

Every admitted student and their parent or guardian submits a signed anti-ragging affidavit at admission, as required by the regulations. The form is available below.

To report an incident to the college: contact the Dean of Student Affairs in person, or write to antiragging@example.edu. Complaints may be made anonymously, and the identity of anyone reporting is protected.

Common questions

What counts as ragging?

Any conduct that teases, treats roughly, or handles a fresher or any other student with rudeness; any act that causes psychological harm or fear; and any act of financial extortion or forced work. It does not require physical contact, and it does not require the person doing it to intend harm.

What happens after I report?

The Anti-Ragging Committee meets within a working day, hears the parties, and may recommend interim measures such as separating those involved while it enquires. Penalties follow the UGC's prescribed scale.

Will my name be disclosed?

No. Complaints may be made anonymously, and the identity of anyone reporting is protected. Retaliating against someone who reports is itself a punishable offence.

Can I report to someone outside the college?

Yes. The National Anti-Ragging Helpline on 1800-180-5522 is free, staffed around the clock and independent of the college. You may also approach the police directly.
